Hello 2021 and for many of us, welcome back travel! Here we are, after almost 18 months, hotels and restaurants are finally opening up and travel to them is once again becoming comfortably possible. It’s predicted to only explode as people are excited to get out and explore, even if it’s just regionally or within the U.S. I don’t know about you, but I’m chomping at the bit to get out of Dodge. All except one of my trips scheduled for last year were rebooked to this year — the exception being to Ireland which won’t happen until 2022. In the meantime, my planning has begun. And what better way to start by reviewing a clothing maker with a travel friendly niche and cross-over appeal for golf – anatomie.com.
This was another brand that I ran into at the virtual PGA Show in January. They market themselves as a luxury travel clothing brand so versatile it can be worn for work, play (yes golf!), travel — any activity. Anatomie has figured out how to offer lightweight, wrinkle-free travel clothes for women that still are stylish and chic. They offer high-performance pants, tops and jackets, but are best known for their women’s travel pants, crafted of high quality fabrics with “European craftsmanship” designed to maximize comfort and durability.
Kate and Shawn Boyer founded Anatomie in 2006 after years in the activewear business. Budapest-born Kate got an MBA in International Trade in France, while working as a girls’ gymnastics coach and dressing the team in outfits she designed herself. From there, the self-taught designer developed private label collections for many exclusive resorts in St. Barth.
She met her husband Shawn in Miami, where the Ohio native was designing customized clothing for hard-to-fit athletic men. The two joined forces and from there, Anatomie was born. Their mission is to become the most-loved luxury travel brand in the world.
As I mentioned above, they are best known for their women’s pants and are now the only luxury apparel brand with a pant lifetime warranty. What does this mean exactly? Their Lifetime Warranty covers the replacement/repair of select essential Anatomie pants if the fabric is defective or damaged due to normal wear and tear.
Their wrinkle-free pants are cut and sewn with expert precision to flatter every woman’s body type. Additionally, Anatomie’s pants are offered in a variety of styles and colors to complement any destination or everyday activity. The lightweight fabrics feature built-in UPF 50+ protection and require minimal care—simply machine wash on cold or hand wash in the sink, hang dry. No dry cleaning ever required. Weighing only 0.45 pounds, which they point out is lighter than a banana, each pant is both lightweight and extremely packable.
I was able to try out several of their clothing items, all of which more than met my expectations and lived up to their descriptions. I have the Kate pant and Gail pant, both in black. They are completely different cuts with one being a bit lower waisted and the other hitting more at mid-waist. When you look on their website, you’ll see a variety of different body shapes to help you find the perfect fitting pant for your body type. That’s a big selling point, I think.
I haven’t had the opportunity to travel with either of these yet, but I can already see that they will travel well. You can’t go wrong with an easy black pant to pair with various tops, including the Kim top that you see here. I love these tops as they are simple and I can easily layer with or without a jacket. Perfect for a cool evening or in those cold airplane cabins you may soon find yourself on again.
I’ve just ordered the Suzette Sport Luxe skort which I cannot wait to receive. I should be receiving my new skort soon but if it fits anything like the pants, which I think it will, I’m going to be thrilled. I’m told that they are receiving new inventory daily so don’t be discouraged if inventory is low – there is more arriving!
