When we started the New Year, I am sure we all had a vision of what 2020 would hold for us.
For me, the Orlando PGA Show was going to be the key moment of the year in late January. There I would see trends in color, style and meet with both long-standing designers and those companies just entering the market with boutique lines.
Then the Pandemic.
The beautiful patterns and intriguing styles that I saw were shoved into the background of everyone’s mind and replaced by havoc and confusion both business and personal. It must be an incredible struggle now for small and midsize manufacturers who should be shipping to buyers like you and me.
I have had many conversations over the last few weeks and am sad to hear that clubs are also cancelling orders they made at the PGA Show in January. This is such a clear reminder of my own experience. My startup boutique line in the midst of the ’08 recession faced order cancellations and had to figure out how to survive.
Across the country now, golf courses are gradually reopening. Demand should follow. So to help us all feel we are moving a bit back toward normal it’s time to start posting about trends in apparel, styles, and about new equipment and instruction. Stay safe and best of health to you, your family and playing partners.
Watch for my next post covering color trends.
